EXPANDING OUR FLEET

In September we invested in 20 new vehicles to expand our ever growing fleet. In keeping with our Environmental commitment, our choice was the Toyota Prius an eco friendly saloon car, which expands our Environmental Passenger car fleet to an excess of 200 vehicles.

Bringing new cars onto the fleet is always a good sign that the business is on track, and reaffirms our commitment to our client’s requirements. This investment will enable us to continue to meet our client service level agreements during the traditionally busy 4th quarter as well as provide an unequalled service to all of our new business.

We are aware of how rapidly corporate needs can change and will continue to consult closely with our clients regarding the makeup of our fleet. The picture that is emerging is that clients are looking for value and low emissions rather than the traditional prestigious executive cars.

SCOPE THREE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Companies that are committed to reducing their emission will need to accurately account for emissions produced by their upstream supply chain. This can be an extremely difficult set of emission to calculate. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive set of Scope 3 emissions reports that enable clients to account for and monitor the emission their use of our car and courier services produce.

THE CHANGING FACE OF DELIVERIES

The Commercial Workers Union have called off their threat of National Postal Strikes, however with both side s still some way off from an agreement there is still great uncertainly about their ability to provide a reliable service over the next few months.

The fact that many of the Post Office competitors, including ourselves, can genuinely claim to offer a more competitive and reliable service is all the more remarkable when you consider that the Post Office is uniquely exempt from paying VAT on its services. This means that competitors have to be 15 percent more efficient to compete effectively, which is by any means a tough margin.

However, the biggest advantage we have over the Post Office is that we are smaller. That means we are more flexible and more client focused, you can speak directly to the controller responsible for your delivery. If we fail to deliver your parcel at or within the ordered delivery time you are not charged. There are a range of Same Day and Next day deliveries that we can match the service elements at a reduced cost.

IN THE NEWS

Read what London Executive, Managing Director Adam Harvey has to say on the state of the Private Hire industry in the November edition of the trade magazine Private Hire and Courier.

In this edition, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson had published an open letter to all London Private Hire drivers concerning air pollution.

With one eye firmly on the London Olympics he was putting forward the possibility of improving London’s air quality by introducing a 15 year age limit on Taxis and Private Hire vehicles in 2012 moving to a 10 year age limit from 2015.

Given that figures from Transport for London show that Taxis represent a considerably greater risk to the environment than Private Hire vehicle do, this proposal could be seen as rather heavy handed.

The fact is between 2007 and 2008; the 21,000 black cabs in London produced almost the same amount of carbon dioxide as the capital’s 46,000 private hire vehicles and even more of the PM10 and NOx emissions that are directly responsible for air pollution.

When it comes to reducing pollution and improving air quality Private Hire is the environmentally friendly choice. The facts are that one journey in a Black Cab does the same about of damage as two journeys in Private Hire vehicles?
